Overview- Approved Technology Models

ITS recommends the following for equipment standards for tablets, laptops and desktops at Central Piedmont.

Requests for new equipment can be submitted via the Client Portal using the Quotes for Standard IT Hardware service request form in the Technology Purchasing & Renewals section of the Service Catalog.

Laptops

Latitude 5000 Line

For regular use performing advanced multitasking across applications, general office applications, spreadsheets, email, and video conferencing we recommend the Latitude 5000 line.

5550 with Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 125U processor (12 MB cache, 12 cores, 14 threads, up to 4.3 GHz Turbo), 16gb of DDR5 RAM, 15.6 display with numeric keypad, 99-key keyboard with number keys and 512gb hard drive.

Precision 7000 Line

For advanced use performing advanced productivity tasks, such as -- content creation, software development, multitasking, and running applications that require significant processing power we recommend the Precision 7000 line.

Precision 7780 with Intel® Core™ i7-13850HX vPro® (30 MB cache, 20 cores, 28 threads, up to 5.3 GHz, 55 W), NVIDIA® RTX™ 2000 Ada, 8 GB GDDR6 Graphics, 17" FHD Display 1920x1080 WVA, 60Hz, anti-glare, non-touch, 32GB of RAM, 99 key backlit keyboard with numeric keypad, and 1TB Hard drive.

Desktops

We recommend using a micro form factor (Optiplex Micro Plus) that we can mount on the back of a monitor to offer you the maximum use of space and function. The latest one has specifications around this:

13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-13700T (30 MB cache, 16 cores, 24 threads, 1.40 GHz to 4.80 GHz Turbo, 35W) 16GB DDR5 Memory, 512GB Hard Drive.
We put this with a 24" media monitor with a camera for a touchdown location or dual 24" monitors for an office location.
