Resetting a Guest Account Password

Overview

This article provides instructions for guests who need to reset the password for a guest account. Please note that guest accounts cannot use Microsoft's Self-Service Password Reset tool like students and employees, so the password reset process differs.

Change Your Guest Account Password

If you are a guest and know your current password, you can change it by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to any on-campus lab computer using your guest account credentials.
  2. Once signed in, press Ctrl + Alt + Del on the keyboard.
  3. From the menu that appears, select Change a password.
  4. Enter your current password, then create a new password and enter it twice to confirm.
  5. Click OK to complete the process.

Note: It may take several minutes for your new password to update across systems.

Be sure to create a password that is both secure and easy to remember. If your new password does not meet the system’s complexity requirements, you will be prompted to try again.

Password Requirements:

  • Must be at least 14 characters long
  • Cannot reuse any of your last 24 passwords
  • Cannot contain personal information (name, birth date, etc) or a partial spelling of personal information
  • Cannot contain your username
  • Must include characters from at least 3 of the following categories:
    • Uppercase letters (A through Z)
    • Lowercase letters (a through z)
    • Numbers (0 through 9)
    • Symbol/special character (~!@#$%^&*(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/)
  • Previous password must be at least 24 hours old
