KnowBe4 Phish Alert Button

KnowBe4 Phish Alert Button

KnowBe4’s Phish Alert button provides a safe way to forward email threats to our Cybersecurity team for analysis.
When using the Phish Alert Button, the email is automatically deleted from your mailbox and a Service Desk ticket is automatically generated.
A Cybersecurity staff member will contact you and can restore the email if needed.

How to use it in Gmail

  1. Click the Phish Alert Button  (orange hook icon on the right-side of Gmail) when viewing suspicious emails.
    • If the button is hidden, reveal the side panel by clicking the arrow in the bottom-right corner of Gmail.
  2. Choose an Email Classification and leave an optional comment.
  3. Click “Phish Alert”.

Note: In some cases, Gmail automatically flags suspicious emails. In these instances, extensions like the Phish Alert Button cannot be used (see the warning message in screenshot below). When this happens, please forward the suspicious email to spam@cpcc.edu and delete it from your mailbox. This will generate a Service Desk ticket, and the Cybersecurity team can restore the email if needed.

How to use it in Outlook [Two Methods]

  • Click the Phish Alert Button (in the Outlook Home tab) when viewing suspicious emails.
  • Right-click an email from the Inbox folder and click the Phish Alert option in the context menu.

Please submit a Service Desk ticket if you have any feedback, questions or concerns about the KnowBe4 Phish Alert Button.
