Microsoft Office: Your Organization's Policies Are Blocking This Action

When you click on a hyperlink in Microsoft Office, you may sometimes receive an alert saying "Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more info, please contact your help desk." If you receive this message, the following steps should fix the issue:

  1. Click on the Windows icon in the bottom-left of your screen and type "Default Apps"
  2. Open "Default Apps"
  3. Scroll down and click Microsoft Edge.
  4. Click "Set default" beside the text saying "Make Microsoft Edge your default browser"
  5. Close any office products that you have open.
  6. Re-open the file and click on the hyperlink.

After the link opens, you can change your default browser back to your browser of choice. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, please call 704-330-5000 to speak with the Service Desk.
