International Student Application Processing Workflow (F-1 Visa Applicants)

Overview

This article provides an overview of the International (F-1) Student application workflow in Element451 (MyConnect). It explains how applications move through each review stage and identifies the cohorts (folders) where processors will locate and process student applications.

Task

This article helps users understand how to locate, review, and process International (F-1) student applications using the correct workflows and cohorts in Element451.

Prerequisites

Users must have:

  • Access to Element451/MyConnect

  • Permission to view and process International Student applications

  • Familiarity with reviewing student documentation (financial statements, transfer forms, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Locate new applications in the International (F1) Submitted but Waiting on Docs cohort.
    *No action is required at this stage; applications will remain here until the required checklist items and information requests are completed by the student.

  2. When checklist items are completed and Information Requests are received, locate the applications in the appropriate cohort based on the student’s visa status:

    • International (F1) Docs Review - Change of Status

    • International (F1) Docs Review - Out of Country F1

    • International (F1) Docs Review - Transfer

  3. Review all submitted documents and update the status to Docs Accepted if requirements are met.

  4. Final review of the application will occur in the International (F1) Students cohort. Update the status to Colleague Ready when processing is complete.

Outcome

After following this workflow, staff should be able to correctly:

  • Locate F-1 student applications in the appropriate cohort

  • Identify which stage an application is in based on its status

  • Review required documents and update statuses appropriately

  • Advance applicants through Eligibility Review and final processing

  • Confirm that admitted applicants receive the Welcome Letter Package
